Yara International chose SPOT AS

Hydrogen – Green Development!

Yara International is currently building a new hydrogen facility based on renewable energy, and SPOT AS is proud to have been chosen as the supplier of the complete piping system (OBL piping) for the project.

The hydrogen produced will be used in ammonia production, which in turn is used for fertilizer – or as a fuel of the future. Ammonia emits no CO₂ when burned and is a promising alternative in the hydrogen economy. It is easier to store and transport than liquid hydrogen, with higher energy density and less need for extreme temperatures.

The project is also sustainable from an infrastructure perspective – Yara is repurposing an existing industrial building, further reducing the carbon footprint. Additionally, the project is supported by ENOVA, which recognizes its climate impact and technological innovation.

SPOT AS has been responsible for the production and installation of piping systems, steel supports, pipe shoes, crane services, scaffolding, and NDT. The work was carried out from February 1 to March 31, 2023. The material used is 304L stainless steel in dimensions DN25–250, and the systems transport hydrogen, water, air, and steam.
